It is important that you work with a Realtor® when buying or selling real property, as Realtors® must adhere to a Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Here are a few of the rules of the Code of Ethics:
Realtors® may represent the seller/landlord and buyer/tenant in the same transaction only after full disclosure to and with informed consent of both parties.
Realtors® shall submit offers and counter-offers objectively and as quickly as possible.
Realtors® shall avoid exaggeration, misrepresentation, or concealment of pertinent facts relating to the property or the transaction. Realtors® shall not advise on matters outside the scope of their real estate license, nor to disclose facts which are confidential under the scope of agency or nono-agency relationships as defined by state law.
